Celebrating Mental Illness Awareness Week and National Catholic Health Care Week

Mental Illness Awareness Week   National Catholic Health care Week
The month of October brings a convergence of significant awareness opportunities that reflect who we are and what we do as an organization. Between October 6th and October 12th, we recognize both Mental Illness Awareness Week and National Catholic Healthcare Week.

Before Canada was a country, Catholic Healthcare was reaching out to the vulnerable populations of our country to advocate for a just and caring society that hears everyone’s voice and meets the needs of all, especially those who are most vulnerable.

At Waypoint we share a profound connection to both of these missions as we journey with those who have a diagnosis of mental illness along with our emphasis on respectful, dignified and compassionate care.

Essential in both of these opportunities is the opportunity to honour people’s stories and to remember that illness is only one part of those stories.  We remember that the most important part of the healthcare continuum is the chance to make a human connection that truly makes a difference for all.
