Waypoint's 7th Annual fundraising dinner features Motivational Speaker and NHL Stanley Cup Champion Theo Fleury

Tickets are now on sale for Waypoint’s 7th AnnualTheo Fleury Shine the Light Gala on March 27th, 2020 featuring Canadian former professional ice hockey player, best-selling author and holder of a Canadian Humanitarian Award and the Queen’s Jubilee Medallion, Theo Fleury.

The dinner is the hospital’s largest fundraiser of the year and is made possible in part by the generous $25,000 title sponsorship of TD Bank Group. Since 2014, TD has now donated $230,000 to the hospital through sponsorships and a Medical Excellence grant.

"TD is proud to partner with Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care for the 2020 Shine the Light Gala,” says Nathan Kent, Manager, Community Banking and External Events. “We look forward to this annual event that supports the hospital’s impactful work in advancing the understanding and treatment of individuals struggling with mental health issues and addiction.  It is one way that TD is helping to open doors to an inclusive future."

Following the success of last year’s new format, the evening will again be a fun social atmosphere with guests enjoying Waypoint’s signature mocktail, a culinary experience including a delicious array of hors d'oeuvres and a food station by Feast Catering, silent and live auctions and music to enjoy before and after Fleury’s riveting presentation. A captivating speaker, Fleury will bring his message of facing adversity and share his focus on helping people with personal growth and healing. He is recognized for his mental health advocacy, work in combating child abuse and promoting recovery, and his conversation is set to inspire hope.

“I am proud to announce that once again, TD Bank has come on board as title sponsor of the Shine the Light Gala," says Board Chair John Barrett-Hamilton.  “Our hospital is continuously working hard to fight stigma and improve the lives of the 1 in 5 Canadians who struggle with mental illness. We are extremely thankful to TD for helping bring our guest, Theo Fleury, to Waypoint. We are excited to have him share his uplifting story and words of hope.”
